What Is Mortgage Rate Lock?

A mortgage rate lock is an agreement between Foothill Credit Union and you that allows you to lock in the interest rate on a mortgage at the prevailing market interest rate. Many financial institutions charge for rate locking and add it to closing costs. Foothill Credit Union allows you to lock in your rate for FREE. By locking in a low rate, you can search for a new home without worrying about a rise in interest rates.

Foothill Credit Union offers the right mortgage product for every homebuyer. First-time homebuyers will benefit from our First-Time Buyer Program (FHA loans) that will finance up to 96.5% of the home. Buyers who have previously purchased home can choose conventional or jumbo loans. Conventional loans require a minimum 5% down payment to finance up to $484,350. Jumbo loans require 20% down and have a maximum loan amount of $1,000,000. Both fixed rate and adjustable loans are available.
