Apple Pay from Foothill Federal Credit UnionYou are now able to use your Foothill debit and credit cards with Apple Pay––the easy, secure, and private way to pay. Use Apple Pay with iPhone 6 to pay in stores without swiping your cards and in apps without entering payment and contact information. Just pay with a single touch of your finger using Touch ID. 

Security at its Best

With Apple Pay, instead of using your actual debit card and credit card numbers when you add your card, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored. And when you make a purchase, the Device Account Number alongside a transaction-specific dynamic security code is used to process your payment. So your actual credit or debit card numbers are never shared by Apple with merchants or transmitted with payment.

What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay™ allows you to pay for your purchases with your iPhone® 6 or iPhone 6 Plus by holding your phone near a contactless reader at participating merchants. You can also use your phone, iPad Air™ 2 and iPad mini™ 3 to pay within certain apps.

How do I add my cards to Apple Pay?

On iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 3, access the Settings app, scroll down to Passbook® & Apple Pay, then enter your cards by tapping “Add Credit or Debit Card.” You can then use your iSight® camera to enter your card or type the information in manually.

Which Foothill card can i use with Apple Pay.

You can use all Foothill consumer credit and debit cards with Apple Pay.

When I add my card to Apple Pay it doesn’t look like the card in my wallet. Why?

Apple Pay uses a graphical representation, not an exact replica of your card.

When I use the camera to add the card, the card details are not showing correctly. What do I do?

In the event your card detail cannot be captured by your phone through your camera, proceed with entering in all of the required fields manually. This will also process and add your card normally into Apple Pay.

How do I change my default card to my card?

The credit or debit card associated with your iTunes® account or the first card you add to Passbook is your default card. To change your default card:

  • Go to Settings > Passbook & Apple Pay
  • Tap Default Card
  • Choose a new card

How do I pay with a card other than my default card?

  1. Position your iPhone close to the contactless reader without placing your finger on Touch ID™. After your iPhone wakes up, your default card will appear on your screen.
  2. Tap your default card to display a list of available cards, then tap the card you want to use.
  3. Position your finger on the Touch ID sensor, and hold your iPhone close to the reader to complete your transaction. Some stores may also ask you to sign a receipt, depending on the transaction amount.

Are my payments safe with Apple Pay?

Yes. When you use Apple Pay, your card number isn’t stored on your phone or given to the merchant. A unique digital code is created specifically for that device. You still enjoy all the benefits of your credit or debit card, which includes our Zero Liability policy that protects you from unauthorized purchases.

How are my privacy and personal information protected?

Since Apple Pay doesn’t store your credit or debit card number on the device, you never reveal your name, card number or security code to merchants.

Am I able to opt out of Apple Pay at any time?

Adding your credit or debit cards to Apple Pay is your choice; you can add and remove cards when needed. To remove a card, go to Passbook App, tap on the card, tap the “i”, then tap Remove card.

Which merchants are participating?

You can use Apple Pay at thousands of merchant locations, including Bloomingdale’s®, McDonald’s®, Macy’s®, Nike®, DuaneReade™ and Staples®. You can also look for the contactless terminal logo and/or Apple Pay logo at participating merchants (see below).

Can I use Apple Pay internationally?

Yes. Apple Pay will work on contactless terminals for international payments.

What if my phone gets lost or stolen?

Apple’s Find My iPhone website lets you suspend its ability to make payments. Or you can contact your credit union, who can suspend Apple Pay for your credit union card. In any case, without your thumbprint or card information, a thief should not be able to use your phone to make purchases.

What if my card is lost or stolen?

Contact Foothill at 626-445-0950 as soon as possible. Once you receive your replacement card you can add your new card to Apple Pay.

How do I return an item?

The merchant can process the return like any other return. To see the last four digits used by Apple Pay, go to Passbook, tap the card, and tap “i” to find “device number.” Some merchants may need to “see” the card. You would follow the same steps you used when making the purchase.

How do I get Apple Pay push notifications on transactions?

This is a setting on your device. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, select Passbook and choose “While Using.”

Is Apple Pay free?

Yes. Be aware that message and data rates may apply, depending on your data plan.

What do I need to get started with Apple Pay?

  • iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, or newer version to pay in stores and within apps
  • iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3, or newer version to pay within apps
  • Software version iOS 8.1 or later
  • Touch ID™ or passcode on your device
  • iCloud® account

How do I replace my old Foothill card with my new card on Apple Pay?

You'll delete the old card from Apple Pay and add the new card. To delete the old card, go into "Settings," open "Passbook & Apple Pay," select the card you want to delete and tap "Remove Card." To add your new card, simply follow the instructions.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you have downloaded the app and have successfully added your Foothill Credit and/or Debit card to Samsung Pay, contact us immediately at (626) 598-5221, Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, or Satuday from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM to activate the card. Don't try to enter the same card multiple times into your device.

What is Samsung Pay?

Samsung Pay* is a safe and simple way to make mobile payments with select Samsung Galaxy devices, and it works at almost any retailer where you can swipe or tap your card.

How does Samsung Pay work?

Samsung Pay uses proprietary technology that works with both Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near-Field Communication (NFC) to make contactless mobile payments. MST and NFC enable you to make secure transactions at virtually every card reader where you can swipe or tap your card.

Where can I use Samsung Pay?

Samsung Pay works almost anywhere you can swipe or tap your card. From the grocery store to the coffee shop to your favorite clothing stores, Samsung Pay is the only mobile payment service that works at the majority of U.S. retail locations. In situations where you have to dip your card or in places where you don't swipe your card yourself (e.g., sit-down restaurants, hotels, auto shops), it's better to use your actual card. Samsung Pay doesn't currently work at gas station pumps with dip readers, but it will work at most gas station cashier card readers.

Which cards can I add to Samsung Pay?

You can use both your Foothill Credit Union MasterCard credit or debit cards with Samsung Pay.

In which countries will Samsung Pay be available, and when will Samsung Pay launch?

Samsung Pay is launching initially in the United States and South Korea. Samsung is working to expand into additional countries.

How do I get Samsung Pay?

For Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+ and Note 5, Samsung Pay will be automatically installed through a software update. Going forward, compatible devices in supported countries will have Samsung Pay preloaded when purchased.

Will I receive a receipt after making a purchase with Samsung Pay?

When paying with Samsung Pay, you'll receive and sign a receipt for your purchases, just as you would with a physical card. You won't receive a separate physical or digital receipt from Samsung Pay.

How do I return a purchase if I used Samsung Pay to make the payment?

Returns made through Samsung Pay are handled the same way as with your physical card–according to the store's policies. If you return an item paid for through Samsung Pay, the store may require you to hover your device over either the card reader or the NFC reader to complete the return.

How can I keep track purchases I've made with Samsung Pay?

Most transactions made through Samsung Pay are viewable shortly after processing, for one month from the time of purchase. Simply open the app and tap on a card to see all the Samsung Pay transactions made with that card. Additionally, a notification with your transaction details will be sent to your device after each Samsung Pay purchase. Note: notifications require an active internet connection.

When I add my Foothill Credit Union card to Samsung Pay, it doesn't look like the card in my wallet. Why?

The card displayed in Samsung Pay won't always exactly match your physical card. The key points to look for are:

  • the card issuer
  • the card network

How can I add my card?

Cards can be easily added to Samsung Pay by using your device's camera to scan in your card's information or by manually inputting the card information yourself.

How many cards can I add into Samsung Pay?

You can add up to 10 cards using Samsung Pay. Both credit cards and debit cards can be added.

How long will it take for my card to activate after adding it to Samsung Pay?

The average amount of time it takes before your card is fully active shouldn't take more than a few minutes.  Once you have added your Foothill Credit or Debit card to Samsung Pay, contact Foothill at (626) 598-5221 to activate the card. Don't try to enter the same card multiple times into your device.

Foothll Credit Union Terms and Conditions for Using Samsung Pay

These terms and conditions (“Terms”) are effective January 1, 2016 and apply when you choose to add your Foothll Credit Union Debit or Credit card (“Card”) to the Samsung Pay mobile payment system (“System”).

Authorization: You authorize Foothll Credit Union to provide Samsung with information about your account to enable your Card to be used for transactions you conduct through the System. All terms and conditions related to your Card remain in full force and effect. Samsung’s terms and conditions for the System describe your rights and obligations when utilizing the System. By agreeing to these Terms, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age and capable of entering into a legally binding agreement.

Fees and Restrictions: Foothll Credit Union does not currently charge you any fee to use the System; however, you will be responsible for any fees that may be charged by parties other than Foothll Credit Union in connection with your use of the System, such as data usage or text messaging charges imposed on you by your wireless carrier.

Samsung pay is available with select Samsung devices and participating wireless carriers. You are subject to any restrictions of third parties when using the System. It is your responsibility to read and understand the agreements provided by Samsung and other third parties before creating, activating or using the System. Subject to applicable law, Foothll Credit Union may at any time (i) terminate your use of Card(s) in connection with the System, (ii) modify or suspend the type or dollar amounts of transactions allowed using your Card(s) in connection with the System, and (iii) change a Card’s eligibility for use with System.

Change in Terms: You consent to receive all communications about your Card’s use of the System electronically. Foothll Credit Union may change or modify these Terms at any time and will provide notice to you if required by law. You are bound by such revisions and may terminate these Terms by removing your Card from the System.

Cancellation: Foothll Credit Union reserves the right to cancel or discontinue offering and supporting the System at any time for any reason. You may disconnect your Card from the System by deleting the card number from your device on the Samsung Pay app.
