avoiding atm fees

If you use a non-FFCU or non-CO-OP ATM, you may be charged a “surcharge” or “foreign” fee.  A surcharge fee is charged by the ATM owner to cover the cost of operating, maintaining and supplying the ATM. ATMs are required by law to inform you of this fee, which may appear on the ATM screen or displayed on a sign on the machine. The amount of the fee will vary.

If you use a non-FFCU or non-CO-OP ATM, you may be charged a $1.00 “foreign” fee by Foothill.  However, we may reimburse this fee if you have a MyChoice Checking account and meet the minimum electronic services requirements.*
Reduce Fees at the ATM.

Use FFCU or CO-OP ATMs. CO-OP Network membership provides surcharge-free access at over 28,000 ATMs nationwide.  To find a CO-OP ATM near you, text your location – address, intersection or zip code – to 692667 (MYCOOP) from any mobile phone or download the database of more than 28,000 surcharge-free ATMs directly to your Garmin, Tom Tom or other GPS device here.

Take the “cash back” option.  If you’re at a retail location and need cash, ask for “cash back” when you make a PIN debit purchase.  You can get cash back at grocery stores such as VONS, Ralphs, Pavillions and Trader Joe’s and at discount stores/pharmacies such as Target, Walmart, CVS, Rite Aid and much more.
